Answers that you don't find on google

I have been a yoga enthusiast and nothing else interests me much. A few weeks back, in the absence of my Yoga trainer, I thought of going for a quick morning walk. Out came my stylish purple joggers and I am ready. So I chose a big public joggers park near my area which has a huge jogging track, kids play area, open gym; which means a lot of bahubali type machines for exercise. They look like more to give you injury with sudden shock, not maintained well. Like Miranda Piesly, I start walking, looking at each and every corner of the place and passers by.

What I see around is

Some serious marathon enthusiast jogging with right pace and balance, full black attire, fitness band, music plugged in, jogging, sweating and focused on the track. Nothing bothers their attention.

Ladies with colourful athleisure, neon pink & flourescent green, freshly combed all open hair with a cap on top (ooh suntan), their manicured hands are busy changing music on the mobile while walking on the track. They are the focus of everyone and they know it damn well.

and then we have ladies, probably a subset of the top, they are rainbow coloured dressed, chatting and laughing way too loudly in their group and they walk in the horizontal line taking the maximum jogging track space. They wont let any other jogger walk past them.

I see two uncles walking or are they walking at all, they dont seem to be moving forward while one of them sings " Na to kaarwaan ki talaash hai, na to humsafar ki talash hai", another uncle is walking fast and doing pranayam together. Anulom vilom, breath in with right nostril, breath out with left nostril while closing the right nostril and repeat with the other one. May be he is short on time and wants to finish both at one. There is this old aunty who is sitting on a concrete bench, looking on his mobile while vigorously swinging her legs to and fro, may be thats her idea of walking.

Then there are usually boisterous kids in the play area, who are just too loud, too playful and quite a handful. They wish to disturb everything that is in order.

While walking, I also see a large group of old men and women sitting on a concrete platform with their sheet or yoga mat. An instructor at the front guiding them through various yoga poses and breathing exercises. I can see some of them totally disinterested and just staring in the blank, while some of them are trying very hard to do that pose, hold it and get it right. Being doing Yoga for sometime now, I feel disgusted at the utter disregard of seriousness. No holding of pose, or repetitions. Too plain to have any benefit. None of them seems to be doing it right. That kind of Yoga would not lead to anything good even if you do it for next 5 years. One needs real determination and agility.

I sneer and walk away.
For next few days, I had loads of questions floating all around me while I walk. Why so much noise, why walk in slippers, why walk hand in hand, why sit at the bench staring at mobile, why do Yoga everyday when it wont benefit. I see all old men and women entering the park, with mats or phones and going about their business and a new reality dawned upon me. Their kids and grandkids are probably busy or out and they dont have any time. Grandparents are left with nothing much to do. They have been given mobile phones so that they can feel engaged and then are left to their own.

Coming to the joggers park or for Yoga is a part of their daily routine that gives them some purpose. Meet their friends, see that they are well and spend sometime away from loneliness. It is not for the Yoga per se.

In that moment, all my questions had an answer.

Thats how life is, it does not answer your questions but shows it to you if you are willing to seek.
