Technology for real moms

As a working mother, I am always on my toes juggling between my office time, daughters time, home time and if there is any time left, my own me time. In shuffling between these times, I have one more Times (of India) to give time to. (Wow!). Last Monday, while I was as usual struggling to hold my fort, I had a glance at this full front page ad and that read "Tested by real moms" Intrigued, I read the details.

Nothing gets past mom
"There's a tiny spot on his school shirt which no one will notice.

But you wont rest till it's gone.

Nor will the taste ever reveal that the tomato in the sandwich was a little soft. But you know it, and it bothers you.

Because you are a mom. And that's how moms are. " #Voltas Beko

I feel violated. If there is a tiny spot on the shirt that no one notices, probably I will ignore it too. If the tomato in the sandwich is soft, I am sure my daughter can handle it. It's only a piece of tomato. Much Ado?

This reminds me of another ad, # Aashirvaad Aata. The commercial shows a mother promising her daughter to stay outside the school the whole time and she does.

As a mother, I insulate myself from all these prejudiced creatives and commercials as the mad advertisement world will keep churning the idea of supermom, superwoman with no respite to ordinary mom or woman. Guess regular moms do not make a great ad copy.

May be some day brand owners and copy writers will do a similar creative justice for regular working fake moms like us, who are selfish and want a lot of things for themselves. Moms who wish to raise gritty, strong independent kids and are ignoring not so relevant things in the process.

On a second thought, why would I need a fridge that keeps a tomato fresh and firm for 30 days? Too much technology for a sandwich, I say.
